Safety isn’t just a protocol for us; it’s an integral part of our culture. We understand the organization and attention required to provide safe environments for all of our associates, both physically and mentally. Marker’s Health and Safety Program includes initiatives and procedures which provide workplace safety at the highest level. In this blog, we explore Marker’s safety awards and recognitions.

Accredited Quality Contractors (AQC)

The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), a national construction industry trade association that represents non-union contractors and related firms, offers the Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) program, which recognizes construction firms that have achieved a high level of safety, quality, and employee benefits standards. To be eligible for the AQC designation, companies must demonstrate their commitment to safety and meet stringent criteria related to safety performance, training, employee benefits, and more.

Marker is proud to be recognized as an Accredited Quality Contractor!

ABC STEP Award

Founded more than three decades ago, the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program is a comprehensive benchmarking and improvement tool that helps contractors improve their safety programs. The program measures a company’s safety performance based on 20 key components, including management commitment, pre-planning, worker training, and incident analysis. Contractors are evaluated based on their safety data and practices, and they can achieve various levels of recognition (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum) based on their performance.

Marker is proud to achieve Platinum status, meaning we are 655% safer than the industry average.

ABC National | Top Performer

As a Top Performer, Marker continuously demonstrates a strong commitment to corporate responsibility in quality, safety, talent management – including diversity, inclusion, and equity —education, and community relations.

This prestigious recognition is awarded to companies who are recognized as an Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) as well as to those who demonstrate world-class safety by achieving Gold status or higher in ABC’s STEP Safety Management System. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and ABC’s 2023 Safety Performance Report, achieving Gold status or higher makes companies more than six times safer than the industry average.

Through STEP, AQC, and other robust ABC programs, ABC Top Performers demonstrate they:

  • Sustain and grow their businesses, financially and economically;
  • Offer market-competitive compensation, benefit, and retirement packages;
  • Are committed to world-class safety;
  • Are committed to workforce development, education, and creating career opportunities;
