This achievement has many benefits for Lexi, our associates, and our organization. Setting the standard for HR professionals around the world, a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) focuses on practical, real-life HR information, teaching, and testing competencies and knowledge. It is more than just memorizing a textbook – it involves applying the concepts learned to real-life situations. It improves behavioral judgment and understands best practices for handling day-to-day business as well as unexpected scenarios. The SHRM certification is the only certification offered by the world’s largest HR membership organization.
Made up of 134 questions, the exam is no easy task. It focuses on six different topics: organization, people, leadership, business, interpersonal, and workplace. The SHRM-CP certification is not a one-time exam. The certification is valid for three years before individuals must recertify by earning 60 professional development credits (PDCs) on the various aspects of the HR world. This requirement is built to ensure individuals remain current in the latest HR knowledge and practices.
With two young children and a full-time job, Lexi knew finding the time to study would be difficult. Yet, to successfully complete the test and accomplish her goals, Lexi spent many evenings and weekends studying and learning. Achieving the SHRM-CP certification has been a career-long goal of Lexi’s and she is proud to have the certification. And so are we!
